Virginia Beach’s annual “Monsters on the Beach” event rides up to shore this weekend. Starting this Friday, May 19th, through Sunday, May 21st, you can watch or participate in countless captivating events.
Taking place right on the waterfront of the beach, Monsters on the Beach is full of family fun.
This event features monster truck races and shows and even offers the opportunity to go for a ride yourself in a monster truck. Spectators can watch the displays of grandeur from bleachers that line the streets overlooking the Virginia Beach Boardwalk.
For Monsters on the Beach, the beach gets taken over by these hot rods and a course is set up for them. The course is jam-packed with scrap metal and sand displays from the beach.
This year marks the 24th anniversary of Monsters on the Beach as put on by Pungo Offroad.
If you follow the world of monster truck racing, you will certainly recognize some of the names on this year’s lineup. You will be able to see names such as:
- Stone Crusher
- Dirt Crew
Not only can you see these big-name cars, but you can also attend a meet and greet to meet your favorite drivers!
In addition to being a spectator, you can enter your truck in the Truck Show and Shine, a special activity put on by Eastern Truck and Accessories in partnership with Monsters on the Beach. This competition is judged, and winners are given trophies for the best trucks. Local truck drivers are also invited to participate in the Tough 4×4 competition, in which they race on the same track as the big names participating in the official race.
For select hours of the day, those in attendance can get a ride in one of the titled monster trucks that are competing. The only thing to note is this only happens during certain hours of the day, so if you plan to attend, be sure to check the schedule so you do not miss it!
Monster truck drivers mean business, so this event happens no matter the weather. Be sure to plan accordingly as you may end up watching in the pouring rain or blazing heat!
